New cartridge instead?
The VPT-2000 takes cartridges with a standard half-inch mount, on a headshell you can take off. We have not found a cartridge weight range for its tonearm, so check the weight of a new cartridge with Victrola before you buy.
Do you need a phono preamp?
A phono preamp boosts the very quiet signal from the cartridge.
The Stream Onyx has one built in. We have not found whether it can be switched off.
Speakers that work with the Stream Onyx
Connect the Stream Onyx's RCA output to the line input on any of these.
M20
Takes Bluetooth too, so it can play the Stream Onyx's Bluetooth signal with no cable.
ORA
Has a subwoofer output, if you want more bass later.
The Fives
Also has a phono input, for a record player without a built-in preamp.
