Powered Speakers for Record Players

A powered speaker has its own amplifier built in, so a record player can plug straight into it. Most have a line input, marked LINE, AUX or with two RCA sockets. A line input needs a record player with a built-in preamp (the part that boosts the needle's tiny signal), such as the Audio-Technica AT-LP60X or Sony PS-LX310BT.

A record player with no built-in preamp, such as the Fluance RT82 or Fluance RT85, needs a speaker with a phono input, or a separate phono preamp between the two. Each fit page on this site says which your record player needs.
