Do you need a phono preamp?

A phono preamp boosts the very quiet signal from the cartridge.

The T1, T1 EVO and T1 White Edition has none built in, so it needs an amplifier or speakers with a phono input, or a separate phono preamp.

The T1 Phono SB has one built in that you can switch off, so it plugs straight into powered speakers, or into an amplifier’s phono input with it switched off.

The T1 BT has one built in. We have not found whether it can be switched off.

Speakers that work with the T1

Each of these has its own phono input, so the T1 plugs in without a separate phono preamp.

If your record player has a PHONO/LINE switch, any powered speaker with a line input works.

How to change the needle on the T1

With the arm on its rest, hold the OM 10 cartridge still, pull the old needle straight forward off its front, then push the Stylus 10 on until it seats fully.

We take these details from Pro-Ject's own website and check them carefully, but makers change parts and part numbers, and we may miss an update. Before you buy, check the part on Pro-Ject's official website. If you spot an error, please tell us.
